At what age can my child start learning English?
The most common starting age is the 3rd grade of primary school, when children are fully familiar with the Greek writing system. If the child is ready, they can start as early as the 2nd grade. At The English School, we adapt our teaching method to the age, so that the start is done in the right way for each student.
How is teaching adapted to the age and level of the child?
Teaching is organized based on three factors: age, knowledge level, and the learning pace of each child. In smaller classes, we emphasize interactive activities and games, while in larger ones, we add targeted exercises in grammar, reading, and oral communication. This way, each student progresses gradually and without pressure.
How many years are needed for Lower and Proficiency?
Our goal is for students to take B2 (Lower) exams by the latest in the 2nd year of junior high school and to reach the C2 (Proficiency) level by the 1st year of high school. The exact duration depends on each child's pace, but the smooth progression through all levels is designed so that students acquire solid knowledge, not just certificates.
Which certificates can my child be examined for?
We prepare our students for all recognized certificates: Cambridge (Key, Preliminary, First, Advanced, Proficiency), Michigan (ECCE, ECPE), NOCN, IELTS, as well as for the Special English Exam of the Panhellenic Exams. The choice of certificate is made in consultation with the family, based on the student's goals.
How do you teach so that children do not memorize mechanically?
Our method aims for meaningful understanding and use of the language. We use modern educational tools, interactive activities, and visual aids that enhance participation and concentration. Children learn to speak, write, and think in English from the very first lesson, instead of memorizing lists of words or grammar rules without connection to real content.
How many children are in each class?
We create small classes so that we can give personalized attention to each student. This way, the teacher monitors the progress of each child individually, identifies any difficulties in a timely manner, and adjusts the teaching according to the needs of the class.
What happens if the child misses a lesson?
In case of illness or family obligation, the child can attend the lesson online from a computer, tablet, or mobile phone, so they do not miss the material. Additionally, the teacher ensures to fill in any gaps that may have arisen, so the student can return without falling behind.
Do you also offer online classes for children and teenagers?
Yes, at The English School we offer online English classes in addition to in-person ones. Our modern platform allows students to participate in the lesson in real-time, converse with the teacher and their classmates, and practice the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) with the same quality as in the classroom.
